THE PROBLEM OF LEISURE
Angélique is her father's darling and her mother's most prized accomplishment. She dances with "heavenly grace" according to a number of dance teachers, sings sweetly, is adept with the witty banter and half-hidden slights and compliments always in fashion in Versailles. She can ride, speaks three languages (Italian being the third), and can nearly manage a fourth (German). Her poise and graceful carriage have earned her the regard of many, including two poets. Angelique has worked very, very hard to be perfect for the life of Versailles, where she longed to marry and become a true part. To marry a Prince of the Blood was her greatest desire, but now... Now her father has torn the family from their French home and sent them to their ancestral estates, and to London.

WHAT TO DO FOR PLEASURE?
Angélique is a princess-in-training robbed of a court. Although she has been presented to the English court, the Queen is horrifying and could not be more different from the wonder that is Marie Antoinette. Her hatred of her native country came swiftly and irrevocably after that. Her parents have tried everything to cheer up their suddenly silent, brooding daughter but their patience is wearing thin. A marriage is clearly needed, but who?

IDEAL LOVE, A NEW PURCHASE
For her own part, Angélique doesn't much care who her parents choose so long as it is someone who will allow her the freedom to pursue her own entertainments and flirtations- whether it be with dashing captains or other noble young ladies, and it's someone with very, very good connections. Marriage is not a matter of love, not even friendship, it is a political arrangement and for economic gain. Her parents' was such, and so her own shall be as well.

YOU FRIENDS ARE OF POWER
She is a child of Versailles, preferring to keep company with a faster set, gambling and dancing all night, living where every movement is watched, every gesture a possible downfall, and those who do fall are not to be mourned. The world beyond palace gates does not occur to her, nor is it anything she feels inclined to worry about.
